At this point, I think it's already safe to say that the United States is really starting to recover from the recession of the yesteryear. Though there are still locations in the country where the economy is still very bad, we can all say that jobs are starting to be more available, while housing markets stabilize. It's a pain to be in Europe right now, with the economic crisis that it is experiencing, so for the most part I think it's better to be in the US. In the country, the recovery is not so balanced. Some cities are luckier to recover faster. In such a case, it would be actually more advisable to stay in these cities than anywhere else, hence this collection of ten top cities that are recovering from the recession, according to a list compiled by Yahoo! Topping is the list is nothing but the nation's capital, Washington D.C. It may have been hit be record snowfall in the area or political tension due to the just-passed health reform bill, but the city is in great shape to protect the jobs that are currently under its wing, while its own property prices are considered to be getting more stable. This is not too surprising because there are a lot of government-related jobs in the capital. These jobs are relatively more insulate from the economic meltdown than anywhere else. Interestingly, a lot of cities in Texas are also found in the list. Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are all faring in the list, thanks to improvements in the tech, housing, and energy industries. It also helped that Texas was not as involved in the housing bubble in the first place as, say, California. There was hardly any excessive construction here. But don't think that the cities in the list were just lucky to have fortunate circumstances. Los Angeles, which is located in California (the hardest hit of them all) is also in the list.
