Real Estate ArticlesOhio’s Changing Real Estate Market
Ohio claims to have something for just about everyone. With some great cities, amazing outdoor recreation and good jobs, it is no wonder Ohio is on the radar of people from states that are suffering from the continued recession. Perhaps one of the more intriguing aspects of Ohio is its relatively stable real estate market.
True, Ohio real estate has been hurt by the economic downturn. The difference, however, between Ohio and states such as Florida or California is that since 2006, Ohio's fall was not as drastic. Whether by design or default, Ohio never experienced the incredible increases in real estate values during the boom years. Ohio managed steady growth during those years and therefore did not suffer such dramatic declines in real estate prices. Now that the worst of times appear behind us, Ohio's real estate market is changing. In many major cities, home sales are beginning to see increases in property values. Ohio state government is doing what it can to help first time homebuyers by offering various tax incentives. In addition, Ohio's real estate market has an abundance of very nice properties available at affordable prices because of foreclosures. Now is a good time to take advantage of these homes, as their prices are typically lower than market value. The types of property available in Ohio range from suburban homes, city apartments and condos to rural farm homes. The unfortunate side effect of foreclosure is that one man's misfortune creates opportunities for others. To sweeten the pot even more, some of Ohio's foreclosure listings come with financial incentives and programs to assist buying foreclosed homes. Before investing in any property, it is a good idea to thoroughly analyze the area or neighborhood you are considering. Reviewing comps in a particular area will give you a clear picture of what similar properties are selling for. If you are not familiar with this process talk to a realtor that specializes in an neighborhood of interest.
